Healthy Eating at Neshama Preschool

At Neshama Preschool, we are committed to fostering healthy eating habits in our students by exposing them to a variety of nutritious foods. Research shows that introducing a range of flavors and textures in the early years can help children become more adventurous eaters as they grow. Our goal is to support preschoolers in developing a positive relationship with food, cultivating healthy eating patterns, and encouraging them to try new things.

 

Nutritional Focus

We prioritize providing the right nutrients to support key areas of growth and development, including gut health, bone health, immunity, and brain development. Vegetables and fruit play an important role in a healthy diet by offering essential fiber, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. To ensure children receive adequate nutrition, we serve fresh vegetables and fruit daily and incorporate them into cooked dishes.

 

Variety and Choice

We offer a wide variety of foods each day, allowing even our pickiest eaters to find something they enjoy in sizable portions. At the same time, we expose children to new foods they may not usually eat (broccoli, cauliflower, green beans, etc.) , encouraging them to widen their palate and try healthy, delicious options. This approach helps children discover that healthy foods can be both nutritious and tasty.

 

Celebrating Special Occasions with Healthier Alternatives

For birthday celebrations and holidays, we choose healthier alternatives to traditional sugary treats. Instead of cakes filled with sugar, food dyes, and processed ingredients, we serve birthday cakes made from fresh, delicious fruit. We also aim to provide festive, nutritious options during other special occasions, ensuring that the children enjoy the celebration with healthier treats.

 

 

Kosher Standards

We uphold the highest kosher standards at Neshama Preschool. All food served is Glatt Kosher, Chalav Yisroel dairy, Pas Yisroel breads, crackers, and pretzels. Our menu is updated every few months, in collaboration with our nutrition consultant, to ensure our meals remain fresh, balanced, and exciting.
